Independent Stampin'Up! Demonstrator!

Hey friends!
I've been a demonstrator with Stampin'Up! since 2011. I'm located in Bozeman, Montana, but have customers all over the country. I have a very fun and active downline called "Big Sky Stamper Stars" and we get together in person and online to share what we love. My blog posts feature what I'm up to recently and I try to share new product information, tips and tricks and creative inspiration. You can shop from this site or find out more information about our products and becoming a demonstrator! Thanks for stopping by!

Color Revamp COLOR COMPARISONS!

Hello Stampin' Friends!
As promised, I am back today to show more details regarding the color revamp!  The entire new color collection launching with the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog is gorgeous and there is so much to love about the update. I was excited to see some older colors go gently into the night and some fresh, new colors appear on the scene. Our color collection is organized in color families and within each family, somewhat in "rainbow" order. Here's the entire collection:

The only "colors" missing from this graphic are black, Whisper White and Very Vanilla. We still carry those, they just are in their own "Basics" category.  As you can see, we have the color spectrum covered!

My curiosity got me thinking about how the colors compare to each other, across color families. For instance, what do all the blues look like together?  The greens?  At a recent downline team meeting, we spent some time figuring that out. I laid out a piece of each cardstock, without names, and they had to guess what color they were looking at. They did have the above graphic to help them. We had a great time comparing the shades and discussing what would look good with other colors.  Luckily, several gals took pictures and so I will use those to show you our comparisons!

First, the red tones!  In left to right order:  Merry Merlot, Cherry Cobbler, Real Red, Poppy Parade and Cajun Craze.

Next, the purple tones, left to right:  Blackberry Bliss, Fresh Fig, Rich Razzleberry, Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather.

Next, the yelloworange tones, left to right:  Grapefruit Grove, Calypso Coral, Pumpkin Pie, Merry Mango, Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Pineapple Punch and So Saffron.

Getting hungry yet? So many food names, haha!  Next were the green tones, left to right:
Tranquil Tide, Shaded Spruce, Call Me Clover, Garden Green, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Granny Apple Green, Lemon Lime Twist, Pear Pizazz, Mint Macaron and Soft Sea Foam.

We were somewhat surprised to see how many greens there were and in contrast, how few blues!  Here are the blues, left to right:  Night of Navy, Blueberry Bushel, Pacific Point, Balmy Blue, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Pool Party.

Next, the pink tones, left to right:  Berry Burst, Lovely Lipstick, Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo, Blushing Bride, Powder Pink, Petal Pink.

Finally, we compared the three grey colors as we have a new grey!  Top to bottom is Smoky Slate, Granite Grey and Basic Grey.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how the colors compare to each other!  Color Theory is an interesting field of study but doesn't have to be complicated either. Sometimes it boils down to what looks good to you!  A helpful hint is to see the different shades in different lighting and to lay them next to each other to see what happens. Sometimes a contrasting color washes out your main color and sometimes it makes it pop. You also have to consider what mood you are going for.

I hope you are looking forward to many more color choices in June. As a reminder, the colors that are going away are only available through May 31st, while supplies last!  Check out the online shop and stock up on any favorites while you can!

Have a wonderfully creative day!
Sarah
