Independent Stampin'Up! Demonstrator!

Hey friends!
I've been a demonstrator with Stampin'Up! since 2011. I'm located in Bozeman, Montana, but have customers all over the country. I have a very fun and active downline called "Big Sky Stamper Stars" and we get together in person and online to share what we love. My blog posts feature what I'm up to recently and I try to share new product information, tips and tricks and creative inspiration. You can shop from this site or find out more information about our products and becoming a demonstrator! Thanks for stopping by!

Pretty Peacock

Happy Thursday Stampin' Friends!

And just like that, another week is almost over. The time is going fast so far this "summer". I put that in quotes because it is still June and anything can happen in Montana with our summer. It's supposed to be 80 degrees the next couple of days but then it's still in our snow window which includes the whole year except the middle of July haha!

I've been busy prepping for a load of classes coming up and also watching the construction progress on our entryway addition to our house. It's exciting to finally see that commencing. It will give us a new entrance to our house with some wonderful space. In the meantime, we are making do with alternate ways to get in the house!

If you've had a chance to look at the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, I'll bet one of the bundles that caught your eye because of its sheer beauty is the "Pretty Peacock" bundle. The color palette is gorgeous with Blueberry Bushel, Pretty Peacock and Old Olive. It is so rich and vibrant. I recently had some fun with this set and want to show you what I came up with .

This is a card I made for a recent swap I participated in with my friends. Our "challenge" was to make something with some new products from the new annual catalog so that was pretty broad and easy to accomplish. I had just received the "Pretty Peacock" bundle so wanted to try it out.  The picture doesn't really do the vibrant colors justice.

This is what it looked like after stamping. I stamped the full peacock stamp in Pretty Peacock ink. I then used the partial "feathers" stamp to stamp on top of this with Blueberry  Bushel to add some royal blue tones. After that, I stamped with the partial "feathers" stamp with Versamark ink and then heat embossed some gold powder on it.  I purposely misaligned the gold so the Blueberry Bushel would still show through.  After my heat embossing had set, I spritzed the whole thing with water so the ink would run. That's how I got the effect in the top picture. I did use watercolor paper which is always the best bet if you are going to be using water as part of your application. I then had to let the piece dry completely before I finished up the card with some die cut pieces of gold foil and coordinating card stock.

This card shows off the lovely foil and Designer Series paper that is part of this sweet. They are all gorgeous and it's hard to choose what to use! The peacock die was a dream. It cut so well and I was able to brush out the little pieces easily with my die brush.

For this card, I wanted to try my hand at coloring the peacock feathers. I actually googled it so I could get the coloring more accurate. I used my Stampin'Write markers for the feathers and my Stampin'Blends for the peacock's body.  The sentiment seemed perfect for this peacock. They can be such "show offs"!!! It's from the "Stitched All Around" stamp set.

I also wanted to see what the peacock would look like with heat embossing so I did that on some "Woven Threads" Designer Series Paper and loved the outcome.

This was a fun set to play with and I think the results were fairly dramatic, again featuring the extremely bold colors. My only difficulty will be deciding which one to offer in a class. Maybe I'll have to do a Peacock class and we will make them all!
