Independent Stampin'Up! Demonstrator!

Hey friends!
I've been a demonstrator with Stampin'Up! since 2011. I'm located in Bozeman, Montana, but have customers all over the country. I have a very fun and active downline called "Big Sky Stamper Stars" and we get together in person and online to share what we love. My blog posts feature what I'm up to recently and I try to share new product information, tips and tricks and creative inspiration. You can shop from this site or find out more information about our products and becoming a demonstrator! Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Cards with Birthday Wit

Hi there Stampers!
Are you like me in that you always are short of birthday cards? It's like I almost can't have too many to have on hand. That's the thing about birthdays... they keep coming around! Knowing that I need a lot of birthday cards both to sell and give, I decided I really should get the "Birthday Wit" stamp set in the 2018 Occasions catalog. It's not a set that you would automatically notice at first because there are no cute or amazing sketches or images included... it's just words, but they are GREAT words, especially for the non-mushy cards you want to give!  Here are some ideas I came up with:

For this card, I used markers and hand colored each word separately, lightly "huffed" on the stamp before I stamped and voila!  I also incorporated some Picture Perfect Designer Series Paper and some Tutti Fruiti sequins. Did you know these sequins come with adhesive already on them?  Genius!! Take note of my embossed background on the card as well... It adds a little visual interest!

The sentiment in this card is perfect when you want to keep the fuss to a minimum. I'm sure you know several people who are not exactly shouting from the rooftops when they have another birthday. Some people just don't want that much attention on themselves and others just hate getting older!  This card perfectly reflects "I'm thinking of you, wish you well, but it's still no big deal." I kept it real simple with black ink on a white background and some of our Wood Textures Designer Series Paper. Can't get much more understated!

For this card, I wanted to incorporate some birthday paper from last year that I had plenty of. I love the slices of birthday cake and thought the sentiment was perfect, albeit tongue in cheek!

My final card ended up being my favorite!  I again used a piece of Wood Textures Designer Series paper and stamped with one of the "Lovely As a Tree" stamps. I then used a dauber and tried to daub some Pool Party ink in the background of the trees for a sky effect. I paired all this with Calypso Coral stamping and card stock. That is one of my favorite color combinations, Pool Party, Calypso Coral and any shade of brown. Unfortunately, sometimes I forget a birthday or am just a tad late so this sentiment will come in handy!

That's it for today, however, I know I will grab this set time and time again when the mushy sentiments, flowers and birds just won't work!  That's something I love about Stampin'Up! They try to create designs that appeal to all people for all occasions.  Their products are as diverse as all of us, which is just as it should be!
