Independent Stampin'Up! Demonstrator!

Hey friends!
I've been a demonstrator with Stampin'Up! since 2011. I'm located in Bozeman, Montana, but have customers all over the country. I have a very fun and active downline called "Big Sky Stamper Stars" and we get together in person and online to share what we love. My blog posts feature what I'm up to recently and I try to share new product information, tips and tricks and creative inspiration. You can shop from this site or find out more information about our products and becoming a demonstrator! Thanks for stopping by!

Glossy Paper magic!

Hi Stampers!
I recently saw a fun technique on Pinterest and made it my own. I like to take a nugget of a concept and expand from there. This time, it involves Stampin'Up!'s glossy paper, which is so fun to work with. There are many different ways to get ink on that paper and then transform it from there.

This technique calls for a background stamp and I chose to use the "Marbled" one. You can use any color ink, but in my first card I used "Night of Navy". Here's the card, then I'll explain:

First, you stamp the glossy card stock with ink. I then sprinkled some gold embossing powder randomly on the inked up paper. Because you are using glossy card stock, the ink stays wet long enough to do this step. I then used my embossing heat tool to melt the embossing powder and also dry the ink a tad. The results are stunning, but I wasn't done yet. Next I took a sponge and smeared the ink as best as I could, while adding some more ink to the sponge. This gives the entire piece of paper a colored in look. This was so fun to do!  I finished up with some stamping for a sentiment and some ribbon.

Here's another version using Pumpkin Pie ink and copper embossing powder:

Depending on the lighting angle, this almost looks like a wood/paneling sort of background, but it is still the Marbled background stamp with the same technique.

I think this would work well with other background stamps and embossing powders. I'll have to experiment some more!

Today is November 1st and the Stampin' Blends pens are official on sale!  Let me know if you are interested in purchasing a couple to try or the whole set!  Stampin'Up! has said they plan to add to the color collection in the future so that is exciting news as well!  These are awesome alcohol markers that are made for coloring. They go on smooth and saturate completely. You can use them for coloring in the popular adult coloring books or do some stamping of your own (recommended to use Momento ink for stamping) and then color.  Here are the details:

I hope you are enjoying your week so far and finding some creativity time, which is always a good thing!

Happy Stampin'!
