Independent Stampin'Up! Demonstrator!

Hey friends!
I've been a demonstrator with Stampin'Up! since 2011. I'm located in Bozeman, Montana, but have customers all over the country. I have a very fun and active downline called "Big Sky Stamper Stars" and we get together in person and online to share what we love. My blog posts feature what I'm up to recently and I try to share new product information, tips and tricks and creative inspiration. You can shop from this site or find out more information about our products and becoming a demonstrator! Thanks for stopping by!

Let it Ride

Hi Stampers!
Today I'm sharing what has become one of my favorite themes in card making - HORSES!  I don't own a horse, haven't ridden a horse in years and the last time I got on a horse, I got bucked off and broke my elbow (I was 25 years old at the time!) .  My recent interest in horses stems from binge watching a delightful Canadian TV series called "Heartland" which is on Netflix. If that doesn't make you like horses, nothing will!  We have an entire branch of our extended family that is very involved in horses including ranch work and rodeo. I love to see their Facebook pics (Broken Box Ranch, Buffalo, SD) and hope to even go to a branding some day. I also live in an area surrounded by the cowboy and horse culture so I live vicariously when I see them.

I was thrilled to see a horse-themed stamp in the new 2019 Occasions catalog. This was actually one of my suggestions to Stampin'Up! when I had the opportunity to express my opinion about what I would like to see more of.   They came up with a great set that can be used in so many ways and is especially amenable to coloring!  Here's what I came up with when I had a go at it:

I tried to stick to a pretty authentic Western theme with my first card including wood and a lasso.  It's a little hard to see in the picture but I raised the wood foreground up on dimensionals so it framed the horse that I colored with my Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.

For this card, I started with a new background stamp called "Crackle Paint". I used some Crumb Cake ink to completely cover the background and then started the rest of my stamping. This card is very simple and qualifies for our #simplestamping emphasis this year. I hand cut the notched edges at the end of my sentiment.

For my last card, I was curious about combining my favorite set with this new horse stamp set, "Waterfront". I love to create scenes with this set, especially mountain scenes. I added some detail with the popular sprig punch and a cute little button.

With these three projects, I was able to try out all the horse stamps and I still have some more sentiments to try out in future ideas. I'm so glad I got this set and will hang on to it probably forever as specific themed stamps don't come around all the time!

Do you love horses?  Do you like to craft?  You can combine the two by purchasing this set, some ink and some paper and off you go!  If you have a smaller budget, don't forget you can always buy our "Stampin' Write" markers and apply ink to a stamp from a marker rather than an ink pad. It's a less expensive way to get lots of colors in your hands.  Please contact me if you would like to know more. I love getting a newbie off to a fun start in the world of rubber stamping.

Have you taken advantage of the Sale-A-Bration offers yet?  I love so many of the freebies in the brochure and it's easy to get them. For every $50 increment in an order, you get to pick a freebie. Your hard-earned money goes so much farther this time of year!  Let me know if you have any questions and try out the online store. It's user friendly and your order will come directly to you, no matter where you live in the United States. I've got a list of my supplies at the bottom of this post to help you.

Thanks for stopping by again!  It's my pleasure....
Sarah
