Shimmer Detailed Laser Cut Specialty DSP cards!

Hi Stampers!
That was a long blog title post that didn't give you a lot of information did it?  Awhile back, I purchased the "Shimmer Detailed Laser Cut Specialty Paper" to eventually give it a try. I then forgot about it until last week when I came across it while looking for something else. Does that ever happen to you?  I love when it's a happy accident and steers me in a fun way of creativity!  This paper is amazing. The shimmery side is a soft off-white and the detail is intricate and amazing. It's paper that has various designs cut into it with a laser. You get six sheets, three of two different styles, and the reverse side is a plain white which can be used as is or even sponged to any color of your choice. I decided to make some cards using the card sized pieces. There are 5 in all and with the pack of three pages, I got 15 cards when I was done. Want to see?!!

This is where I started. I looked for Designer Series Paper to put behind the laser cut paper. It's a little tricky to find paper that doesn't "fight" with the laser cut design.

Here are pictures of the finished cards:

And now some details on each card:

The paper behind the laser cut design in this card is from the "Finely Woven" DSP pack. I also used some Designer Series Paper In-Color paper for the gingham check background to the sentiment. The Happy Birthday Sentiment is from the "I Say Hello" stamp set, located in the Annual Catalog, pg 110.

This card features the "Follow Your Art" DSP, the leaf and sprig punch and the "Accented Blooms" stamp set and coordinating Tailored Tag punch.

This card uses paper from the Bird Ballad DSP pack and a sentiment from the "Path of Petals" stamp set which is part of the Pressed Petals Suite.

This card also uses products from the Pressed Petals Suite including Pressed Petals DSP for my floral background and the "Path of Petals" stamp set. My small yellow flowers are made with using the Small bloom punch and stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration offering.

Finally, my bird/branch laser cut paper is backed with a piece from the "Garden Lane" DSP pack. I used a retired stamp, ribbon and button for this card as well.

Here's a picture of the Shimmer Detailed Laser-Cut paper. Remember, you get three sheets of each design in the pack!

I have several more pieces of the laser cut paper to play with but this was a fun start. Because this paper is fairly delicate, I hand cut it out with my long blade Stampin'Up! scissors and then trimmed a little if needed with my paper trimmer. I did all three sheets at the same time as the paper is pretty thin. It's not as tedious as it may sound, you just have to take some care to not force anything and rip it accidentally.  This was a fun way to make 15 cards in little time and the laser cut paper is so gorgeous.

I've listed most of my supplies below and a click on any of them will take you to the store where you can get more information or order. This paper is in the Annual Catalog and should be available until May 31st or until supplies run out. I'm seeing a few more samples on Pinterest with this paper so don't wait until it goes viral and is gone!

Have a creative and wonderful Wednesday!
Sarah
