Valentine's Day fun!

Hi Stampin' Friends!
I'm back today with some fun projects we recently did in my "Valentine's Day for All" class. I wanted it to be a fun and broad spectrum class that would help share lots of love, particularly focusing on new Valentines themed products in the new Jan-June Mini Catalog. Have you seen that Designer Series Paper?  It is gorgeous with foil accents on one side of the paper in Real Read and/or Flirty Flamingo. I used a lot of it in these projects so take a look!

So are you wondering what those cute little animals could be?  I learned at OnStage in November that those are called Meerkats and apparently I'm really out of the loop because I didn't know that. I've also heard people say they look like gophers. We have lots of gophers in Montana - meerkats, not so much! Who cares, they are cute!  They are in a free stamp set you can earn during Sale-A-Bration this year with a $50 purchase. I thought I would put them to use for Valentine duty! You can also see the gorgeous Specialty Designer Series Paper "From My Heart" in this card. The small pink hearts are foil and have just a tiny puff elevation to them!

This is a second card we made, evoking a traditional, almost nostaligic theme with red, pink, hearts, vellum and lots of layers. I used the Eyelet Lace embossing folder for my background. Part of the Heartfelt Bundle in the new mini catalog includes two heart punches with the scalloped one being slightly larger than the straight edge one. I love to layer and these hearts next perfectly.

Here's another example using the scalloped heart punch and a heart stamp from the Heartfelt Bundle. I wanted to have an embossed background so I stamped the hearts on additional Whisper White paper and then punched them out before adhering them to the card and brick background. I love that visual and it still kept the overall depth of the card mailable.  I used some retired red foil paper and a small heart punch to finish off this card!

This card couldn't be much more simple! It features the Designer Series Paper again and the punches with just a tad of background stamping. Don't you love that Crackle Paint background stamp!  I use it so much I have to restrain myself!

A final card we made was to be especially for our sweethearts. Guys probably don't need a lot of lace, doilies, gems or sparkle so I kept this one pretty toned down, but actually worked in a twist. We used the "A Good Man" stamp set from the annual catalog for our "guy" and included the "You're the best" stamp set from that as well. I reached further into the annual catalog for my background paper, using a piece from the See A Silhouette" DSP. The Flirty Flamingo heart is part of a 40 piece red/pink heart pack you can get from the new new mini catalog. The white/red layer underneath is watercolor paper with some of the Melon Mambo pigment sprinkles (pg 179 in annual catalog), applied with an Aqua Painter. It's always fun to throw in a little technique twist in a class to remind everyone of all our products and how to use them!

Of course, Valentine's Day would not be complete without chocolate and some treats!  We next made some gift card holders and treat holders using all current Stampin'Up! packaging options.

If you need to make a bunch of tags in a hurry, I can't recommend the "Tags, Tags, Tags" set enough!  It is ingenious and allows you to make three tags per stamp/die cut with Halloween, Valentine's Day and Christmas themes. I've used for all of them now! These options for packaging are so fun and allow you to use up random paper and ribbon to decorate.

I hope that inspired you with Valentine's Day about a month away. There's all kinds of time to order some fun products for your projects and get going on them. I've listed my supplies below and a click on any of them will take you to the online store. I'm also happy to place an order for you ;)

Winter is a great time to stamp, especially the colder it gets and the more we stay indoors. If you're interested in getting started, please contact me. I have many ideas to get you started that will fit your budget and your time. If giving gifts is your "love language" stamping is right up your alley and you will love the joy it brings to others when you give them a handmade card or treat.

Stay warm and keep stampin'!
Sarah
