Tasteful Textures

Hi Friends!
I've gotten a little later start on my blog today because I wanted to experiment with the thread of an idea I saw on a Facebook group I am part of.  It gave me some inspiration with which to use one of the dies from the "Tasteful Textures" bundle. Here's the glimmer of inspiration. When you have a die that cuts a negative image, in other words, it cuts out the leaves or petals but not the perimeter so you end up cutting an image into your background, what do you do with the leftover pieces of petals or leaves?  You throw them away, right?  What if you didn't?

What if you put some adhesive backing on your card stock before you cut out the die image, and then carefully peeled away the adhesive paper from each cut out piece and re-adhered them in the correct pattern so they create a faux embossed look?  Confused?  Here's my card and then I'll show you a picture of the process.

See that bottom left corner of this card?  It's actually the die cut pieces that are left over when I used my die on some adhesive-backed Petal Pink card stock!  I used my die cut out as a template of where to place the pieces and carefully peeled off the backing paper so they would be sticky to the background card stock.  Here's a better pic of the process:

Doesn't that look cool!  I want to try it again with a contrasting color next time but I thought using the same card stock would make it look embossed. It took a little time to peel and adhere every single piece, but I laid my die cut template on the cardstock so I knew where to put each piece. Voila!!  That seems like a value-added way to use some dies!

Here are some more cards I made playing with the "Tasteful Textures" bundle!  It's a great set!

I couldn't resist using some "Woven Threads" Designer Series Paper, which is almost my favorite (I can't decide with this catalog because there are so many gorgeous DSP packs!)  I don't think my technique above would be fun with these other dies, in particular the bottom one - too many little pieces to try to keep track of and adhere in the right place - ugh!

This bundle has some great and somewhat different sentiments as well. Here's a look at the bundle itself:

This is a good set to really get your creative juices pumped as you think outside the box to use these stamps and dies. This bundle also combines really well with our other stamp sets as you can see by the samples SU created on page 135 of the Annual Catalog or below!

I hope you'll add Tasteful Textures to your tool box or at least add it to your wish list of potential contenders!  All my supply information is listed below and a click on any one of them will take you to the online store. Summer is a good time to treat yourself to some new supplies and get inky!

Happy Stampin',
Sarah
