I'm so glad it is past June 4th when the new Annual Catalog launched so I can start sharing in earnest all the great new products coming your way from Stampin'Up! I felt like much of May I was struggling with what I didn't want to reveal yet! I'm like a little kid when I get excited and want to share what I've been up to.
I had my catalog launch party yesterday and it was well attended. I enjoyed watching people check out my product samples (mostly cards), make some Make-N-Take projects and mostly just enjoy visiting about stamping. It's a fun hobby that has brought a diverse group of people together in my community! All of this has given me inspiration to last for weeks, if not months!
One of the things I want to do is focus on a particular suite each week to introduce them to you. I can't decide what my favorite one is, so I'll just pick a place to start, like the Bird Ballad suite. You can just hear these birds chirping their lovely songs while they enjoy the departure of winter! There are some great products within this suite and I want to share some ideas I came up with while using them.
My first card features the Bird Ballad Laser-cut Cards and Tin. These cards have a delicate laser-cut top layer that you can open and insert something behind. I used some Designer Series Paper from the Verdant Green pack. Of course, the most fun part was coloring the birds, branch and flowers with my Stampin'Blends alcohol markers. If you're a fan of these markers, the new catalog features 6 new colors!
There's also some new Mint Macaron ribbon featured in this card. It's just lovely all the way around. I plan to make a short video demonstrating how I colored these birds so watch for that on my Facebook and YouTube social media.
Here are some other ideas, some involving fussy cutting, along with stamping from this fun suite.
The Designer Series Paper in this suite is spectacular. The Stampin'Up! designers actually colored their drawings with Stampin'Blends markers as part of the production process. That technique gives the paper a cool shaded and blended effect. The bottom band features the "A Little Lace" die but more about that in another post!
When the Designer Series Paper is so gorgeous on both sides, it can be hard to decide what to use! This design allows you to use both sides!
Fussy cutting isn't a bad word! This was relatively easy with my paper ships and then I used a white background so you wouldn't see any cutting imperfections.
This was a card I used as a swap for my May team meeting. I wanted to show them glimpses of this set before it was available to order. There are some new framelits that are bundled with the stamp set, featured in this card as well!
This card features the Scalloped note cards (I accidentally stamped on the back of the card, not the scalloped side - oooops!) . This was a Make-N-Take for my catalog launch so I kept it very simple. I would like to go back and color the birds and branches now. Another product in the are the Bird Ballad trinkets, very old school brass leaves, bow, key, flower etc. They are very pretty and easy to attach with a ribbon or glue dot.
This final card was actually a way to feature the new In-Colors at a class I did in May. I cut my strips 1" x 4" in each color and then adhered them to a black background. The stamping was done after the strips were put together. It gave the ladies a new In Color swatch that was also a card!
I offering a class featuring this suite later in the month. I am contemplating having an online version as well as an in-person class. Would you be interested in an online class? I haven't done that before but am willing to give it a go. Please leave me a comment if you would like to have access to something like that. You would purchase the stamps and paper and then I would offer you several ideas of what to do and instructions. We all lead busy lives and the beauty of an online class is that you could watch it when it's convenient for you!

You will start to see this on my email signatures, my photo watermarks and my communication. I'm trying to drive all interest in my work to the same site and from there, you can access Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and YouTube where I'm also active. I'm self taught with the help of Google and my kids so be patient with me if it's not the slickest thing out there! Stampin'Up! is also revamping our websites towards the end of June so I expect more new things coming up soon! I'm trying to stay on top of it all and spend a little bit of each day focused online.
Now, I need to clean up from my open house yesterday and get my room organized for the new catalog year! I love starting new things!
