I think if you ever attended school or ever had a job, you are a big fan of Fridays! That means the last day of the week and on to the weekend! I'm looking forward to ours as one daughter is coming to visit for the weekend and another daughter is in an annual "Lip Sync for Literacy" fundraiser for her school. That show is always a hoot and we are really looking forward to it. What are your plans? I hope there are some "wonderful moments" that brighten this cold, long winter for you.
I'm back in the Annual Catalog again today. This catalog is current until May 31st, so I still have lots of exploring and creating to do. You have probably noticed one artistic style in our stamps lately, a line-sketch type style of artwork. I have loved them because they are good when stamped all by themselves and also very suitable and fun to color. I spent some time with the "Wonderful Moments" set recently, which is chalk full of great sentiments for upcoming events and milestones like engagements, weddings, babies, birthdays, etc. Are you ready to see some fun?
This first card was kept fairly simple on purpose. I just did some simple stamping of the woman and her flowers but I highlighted it a bit better with the Bokeh stamp for a background. These are not large background stamps so they are perfect for a smaller piece. I added some of the gorgeous "Petal Promenade" Designer Series Paper for my larger background. These stamps are photopolymer so they weren't difficult to line up, i.e. getting the flower bouquet in her hand. However, the Stamparatus would be perfect for this type of stamping where placement is important.
I loved this image and sentiment to celebrate the pregnancy and not just the birth of a new little someone. Pregnancy is a big deal and an encouraging handmade card would be so welcome by any woman! My color palette was determined by my background paper, "Twinkle Twinkle" Designer Series Paper. I love the softer, subtle colors of this card.
Here's an example of these images colored, this time with our Stampin' Blends alcohol markers. If you purchase these markers, be sure to get the two flesh tone ones, Ivory and Bronze. They really help if you are doing a human or animal and need something for skin tones. It looks "undone" if you color everything else and leave out the skin! This is a great example of using a Stamparatus to perfectly line up those balloons in her hand!
Here's the wedding image in this set. I kept this simple with Night of Navy ink and "Tranquil Textures" Designer Series Paper for my paper background. Hopefully you can see the Rich Razzleberry velvet ribbon, the white knotted ribbon with silver edges and the doily tucked in. All of those details make the card more feminine which I was hoping to achieve.
Here's another wedding card and also a quick video tutorial about the background paper. It was originally white and I wanted it to not be white but more vintage, off-white looking. Check out the video below and you can see what I did!
This is such a fun set and I didn't even get through half of the sentiments! The font is really appealing as it looks handwritten. I am going to try to remember to use the sentiments on other projects, even if I don't use these particular images.
It's probably time for you to take a tour through the Annual Catalog again. By now, you probably have most of what you really wanted and now it's time to go deeper and put some things on the second tier Wish List! With any catalog release, there are always products that catch my eye immediately and then I forget about other things that I also liked. I'm going to re-arm myself with some sticky notes and take another look at what I missed the first time around!
