Today I'm excited about a new stamp set in the 2019 Occasions Catalog that I think has lots of relevance and appeal these days, a stamp set to express support for a person or a cause. We've all see the pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness, purple for Alzheimer's, teal for ovarian cancer, etc. This set has some wonderful images and sentiments to capture what you want to express in these situations. The set was designed by million dollar sales stamper, Janet Wakeland. She shared it live on OnStage and it was so inspiring to hear the background on how it came to be. Any family affected by a devastating diagnosis knows how this changes your world and getting through to the other side can be very challenging.
I was anxious to get this set in my hands and played with it for awhile last week. I especially like the sketch-line art drawing style because it works to leave it alone or color it. Here are my results:
I was feeling guilty that I hadn't used my Buffalo Plaid stamp as much as I wanted to so I decided to use it with this card and mask off an oval for my stamping. It's worked really well! You just ink up your background stamp, place your oval mask where you don't want the background stamp pattern, then lay your card stock on the background stamp. This left me a nice clean oval spot to do my stamping with the people stamp I wanted to use. I colored them with the Stampin' Blends alcohol markers, added some sprigs and leaves with punches and a sentiment.
For one of my ideas, I wanted to do something a little toned down, possibly masculine. I thought this girl/boy stamp could depict a sister and brother, mother and child, etc. It's a little hard to see, but I stamped the background Night of Navy card stock with the Sheet Music background stamp. Of course, any background stamp or even an embossing folder would work. My color scheme is very simple, Crumb Cake and Night of Navy.
For this card, I wanted to stick pretty traditional and try some pink colors and more feminine style. The ribbon is easy to die cut with the "Support Ribbon" framelits. I also used a retired floral embossing folder to add some interest in the Gray Granite space of the card. The Lovely Lipstick ribbon is part of the new Valentine product suite.
Last, I wanted to just go back to monochromatic. I went back to a favorite color combo, Calypso Coral and Black. I think embossing the cover of the card is a great way to spruce it up a little and it actually makes the stamped up piece show up more.
I hope you like some of my ideas. There are always endless possibilities with all of Stampin'Up!'s products, limited only by your imagination or Pinterest's possibilities! I love how timeless these messages are and that they can be easily adapted for any cause important to your heart.
