He is Risen Indeed

Hi Stampers!
Today, I am turning my attention to Easter!  It's still about a month away, but I wanted to share some ideas so you had plenty of time to order supplies and make some cards for this most important holiday of the Christian faith.  Stampin'Up! always has some Easter themed stamps in the Occasions catalog and this year, the sacred ones were a home run in my opinion.  Here are my cards:

For the first card, I used a dauber and three different yellow/orange inks and sponged on Whisper White card stock to try to create a sunrise background.  I used my retired oval framelits to complete the card, including cutting the card itself with the biggest oval. I used the palm branch stamp around the outside edge of the front of the card and then again, in the center.

For my second card, I chose some retired watercolor-like paper to stamp on and added some branches from the Botanical Builder framelits. They are really ferns, but I thought they could pass for palm branches in a pinch ;)  I also used a little purple which is a popular Easter color.

Tomorrow, I'll feature the other Easter themes.... bunnies, Easter eggs, baskets, etc. and even some Peeps.  That is what is all the rage in the stores, however, I wanted to start with what Easter is really about, the death and resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Thanks for stopping by!  The supplies are listed below if you want to get a start on some Easter cards this year!

Happy Stampin'!
Sarah
