What I Love

Just because we are deep in snow in the January, it doesn't mean we can't think about flowers and do some fun multi-step stamping, right?  I want to continue to feature some of the free stamp sets you can get by participating in Sale-A-Bration!  For every $50 you spend, you can pick something from the SAB brochure for free!  One of those sets is called "What I Love" and it is featured in this card:

The large flower has 3 stamps that overlay each other and you can use different colored inks to get a shaded effect. I decided to try a purple color scheme and I love to pair purple with green!  This card is a very simple design but eye-catching because of the background paper I used. It is from the "Timeless Elegance" Designer Series Paper stack.  Next time you start on a card, consider stamping on something besides plain card stock as your background... you never know what you will come up with!

Have a great day!

Going sideways...

I had a couple of goals in mind with this card. I really wanted to use the Circle Card Thinlit, which has been in the catalog for 2-3 years now and I have neglected for at least a year.   My dilemma was I also wanted to use the World Traveler Textured Impression Embossing folder.
The problem? The framelit is designed for a vertical oriented card and the embossing folder is deigned for a horizontal oriented card. What's a stamper to do?  I chose to use the Framelit sideways. In other words, I still used the framelit in the Big Shot as always, but cut my paper in half the long way (vertically at 11 x 4.25") and then put it in sideways through the framelit. I scored the end which doesn't have the circle flip at 3.75" from the outer edge and then embossed that side of the card with the embossing folder. I hope you are completely confused but I think you can see what I mean when you see a picture!

Here it is folded out...

That's it for the basic "how-to" of the card. I used the wonderful free SAB stamp set "The Sky is the Limit" which is only available with any $50 purchase until February 15th! Don't miss out if you are a plane buff or someone you know is!  This was fun to make and I hope to remember my design idea and put it to use again soon!

Have a great Monday!

It's Your Day!

I recently used the Party Popup framelits at another class and wanted to share the card we made. It had a "moving part" front that works like a towel hanging on a clothesline!  Here's the card:

This was fun and easy to make! The Mint Macaron piece of paper is 3' x 5.25" and adhered to a crumb cake card. I punched a hole in each of the top corners after that and threaded the Baker's twine through and tied a bow on the left side.... tada... clothesline!  The folder over banner piece is crushed curry, 2" x 8.5". I used my tag punch to fancy up the ends of it. I hope you are noticing the adorable cupcake!  I used markers to ink up my stamp and also added some clear Wink of Stella on the frosting for sparkle and topped it off with an enamel dot!  Here's the inside:

The Party Popup dies make the inside of a card speak for itself!  I added a few stamped images and some washi tape to finish it off.  The Mint Macaron piece of card stock is 7.5" x 5", FYI!

Be sure to check out the occasions catalog just to the right ======>>>>

Going Global

One of my favorite new suites in the Occasions 2016 catalog is "Going Global". While that's almost impossible to say 3 times fast, it is a great suite!  We used some components of it recently in my card class last week to make a card with a more masculine theme. Here's the card:

There is alot of new product featured in this card and the possibilities are very inspiring for a travel theme!  This card also shows a layout that allows you to incorporate paper, twine, stamps, embossing folder, punches, etc which makes you feel like you getting alot for the money you have spent on all these goodies~~ always a great feeling to me!

Check out the supply list below and you can soon be "going global" too!
Happy Hump Day!

A party without a cake is just a meeting ;)

I want to share my cards from my monthly card class last week. It was a roaring success with all new product from the 2016 Occasions catalog!  I had planned to use as much new product as possible and let my participants play with the new stuff! We had a ball! The first card is for birthdays, or really any celebration and uses the sentiment in the blog post title, which I think is so true! Here's the card:

I hope you notice new confetti embossing folder, new Designer Series Paper, new Baker's twine, a new cupcake punch. It's a little hard to see, but we frosted our cupcakes with Wink of Stella (#141897), a new glitter brush! This picture is omitting the cherry on top, which are new adhesive dots.  Here's the inside of the card:

Now you can see another use of the Hip Hip Hooray framelit, with a fun center fold that the framelit actually scores. The black card stock is 7-1/2" x 5" and scored in the middle at 3-3/4".  I also added some coordinating Washi tape.  All of this products is featured in the new Occasions 2016 Catalog and is available now!  Order online or contact me for questions or details and get started on your celebration cards!
Happy Monday,
Sarah

Hip Hip Hooray!

Welcome to 2016!  Alot has happened since I last posted. We had an extremely wonderful Christmas with our kids, family and friends. This was quickly followed by the passing of my mother on January 2nd. It was not unexpected, but still a shock in how fast her decline went from Christmas Day on. I am so grateful for the many, many glimpses of God's grace in how it all unfolded.

I am getting back into the swing of crafting because it is a happy place for me and has been for most of my life. Creating things feeds my soul and the friendships I've made with people who also like to craft have been life-giving in so many ways. I know there are hard days ahead but I also know there are great days as well.

The New Year happens to coincide with Stampin'Up!'s biggest promotion of the year, Sale-A-Bration! You'll be hearing alot about this as it lasts through March 31st. Briefly, for every $50 you spend on a purchase, any product, any catalog, you get to choose a free item from the Sale-A-Bration brochure.  The new catalog and brochure are located on the right hand side of the blog and you can click there for easy access. I also have paper copies if you would like one, just contact me.

To start things off, here's a fun card using the Party Pop-Up Thinlits Dies.  I will be showing you several ways to use these, but here is one.   I used the thinlit directly on the front of my black card and then glued a colorful Designer Series paper from the "It's My Party" stack behind it. I wanted the shape of the thinlit to stand out a little more so I used our white gel marker to make dashes around the word bubble shape. Here's the card:

This would be a very easy card to make multiples of and could be used for birthday, congratulations or any celebratory reason.  Be sure to check out the new catalog and SAB brochure and start your wish list today!

Happy New Year,
Sarah
